A Movement Rooted in Resilience

We believe that education is not just the delivery of facts, but the ignition of the human spirit. At Art of a Child, we use creativity as the primary language for learning, ensuring every child can speak their truth long before they find the words.

Why Expressive Art? Because Creativity is a Catalyst.

Art is more than a creative outlet; it is a bridge to the mind. For children who have faced the weight of trauma or the silence of deprivation, the canvas provides a safe sanctuary. By integrating expressive arts, we do more than teach—we heal. We stimulate critical thinking, build emotional resilience, and cultivate the self-esteem required for a child to move from a place of survival to a place of leadership.

From a Spark to a Safe Space: Our Story

Art of a Child began in the heart of a Ugandan slum as a simple book club for children left behind by the system. Our founder, Susan Tusabe, understood their struggle because she had lived it.

After losing her parents at age 10, Susan’s own future was uncertain until a “Good Samaritan” stepped in to anchor her education. This act of grace transformed her life, turning education into her lifelong religion. Today, Art of a Child is the fulfillment of her promise to pay that grace forward. We are proof that when a child is seen, supported, and given the tools to learn, they can rise above any circumstance to rewrite their legacy.
