New reading programs to enhance reading skills in children
In some communities, it is hard for both children and their parents to get access to reading materials. As a means of intervention, Art of a child, a non-governmental organization set up of group of literacy clubs both in different schools and communities to fight illiteracy.
The clubs are equipped with various reading materials at all levels to enable them teach children during their free time away from school. The organization uses literacy clubs, mobile libraries for slums, literacy camps, literacy centres, book clubs in schools and Advocacy days such as World Read Aloud Day to sensitize people about the value of reading.
